Safe Families for Children (SFFC)

Looking for a project to support this Christmas or into the New Year of 2015, then why not checkout the Bethany Christian Trust sponsored Safe Families for Children (SFFC). This initiative launched in October of 2014 is a ground breaking collaboration between faith groups, volunteer and childcare professionals designed to support children and families in need. Started in 2003 in the United States, it grew out of a desire from Dr. David Anderson, a local Baptist minister, to respond to the pastoral needs of children and families who were affected by crime, brokenness, poverty and life’s complexities that lead to the vulnerabilities within family life. At a basic level it is about Church people forming relationships that express the love of God and who can walk alongside those who would benefit from our friendship. It provides an opportunity for people to live out there Christian faith and make a difference in the lives of their neighbours.

Bible Study for Kirk Sessions and Mission Groups

This short Bible Study is designed to stimulate Kirk Sessions and other groups within the Church tasked with prioritising the shape of the future mission.

Reformed, Reforming, Emerging and Experimenting

Prof John Drane wrote in 1985 that the issues facing the Church were 1/ a Christianity that was being forced into a cultural ghetto 2/ many thousands searching for a spiritual explanation of the human situation 3/ a Church that needs to release the potential of its human resources and to help Christians discover their true ministry for which God has equipped them. Nearly twenty years later the same challenges still apply. At the 2012 General Assembly this excellent Report was commended to the Church as a seminal work in understanding the cultural issues of today and how the Church's mission can respond and adapt to these issues.
