Mental Health Access Pack

This usable, accessible and easily navigated site has been created to: -- increase discussion and sharing of ideas surrounding mental health and the Church -- equip the Church with knowledge and tools through theological, psychological and medical perspectives and signposting. Crucially, it will enable the Church to be supportive of people in their communities who are struggling with mental health issues. This online resource is an exciting joint venture between Livability and Mind and Soul. With 1 in 4 people experiencing a mental health issue at some point in their lifetime, this is an important issue for the church to engage with effectively.

Urban saints Energise

Urban Saints have a large database of downloadable resources. The cost is £20 a month and if paying by direct debit you can get your first 6 weeks for free. It may seem a bit of an investment but there is a huge of range of ideas and for a wide age range in exploring the bible creatively.

Roots - worship and learning resources for the whole church

The ROOTS magazines are published six times a year. Each issue covers two months of lectionary readings. Subscriptions last for one year and you can start your subscription with any issue. We will remind you to renew well ahead of time. Your subscription includes access to a huge library of materials online at including additional supporting materials, inspiration for celebrating seasons and festivals, a huge archive of ROOTS resources from the past nine years, and PostScript, a weekly topical resource that helps you link the week's readings to current events.

Bible Story bags

This book comprises 16 field-tested story scripts, based on the life of Jesus, and designed to stimulate reflective thinking in children of all ages from 4-11. Pretty much everything you need to know about working with…under 5’s, 5-7s. 8-10s, 11-14s.

These books give a great background to working with each particular age group and also lots of practical advice for running your group and helping the young people to explore the bible together.

Transition Season ideas

There is a lot of good stuff here. The ideas are set in an American context but also from a wide variety of theological traditions - well worth a look and taking some time to think how they could be adapted to Scotland and your own situation.

The children's and youth website of the Presbyterian Church of Ireland, great for picking up resources and seeing what they are up to!

Presbyterian Church of New Zealand’s youth website

This is the website of the youth ministry of the Presbyterian church in New Zealand. It also has a downloadable app for your tablet/phone. Worth a look to see what they are doing and to pick up some resource ideas!

Youth film series - Alpha

Alpha's new Youth Film Series explores timeless questions about faith, life and God for a new generation of teenagers in a new format. It was piloted with Scottish young people last term and they loved it!

This website is designed for use by Christians who work in schools but is full of good ideas that can be used with church groups/contexts as well. You can register for free and then have access to the whole site. The schools work playing cards which you can purchase from the site are a great resource to buy and keep in your bag!


Open Doors blackout event encourages youth groups to fast from mobiles, internet, gaming etc for a weekend to support the persecuted church around the world

Scripture Union Scotland organise holidays for 10-18 year olds during the Easter and Summer holidays. Have a look at the website. Easter Code

Easter Code is an opportunity to invite local school(s) to bring P6 and P7 classes to your church to take part in an interactive exploration of the Easter story. There is a resource book and CD ROM which outline the 2 hour event, giving a plan for the day, clear instructions on how each ‘station’ should run and what materials are required
